From time to time our clients will reach out after encountering an abandoned and unmarked utility while open trenching for new installations. Municipalities require these utilities to be filled before work can proceed, usually causing delays. Earlier this year we received a call from one of our clients for an urgent abandonment of 135’ of 8” DIP pipe near Morrison, CO. UIT responded and was onsite in 2 days with a plan, equipment and a team to address the issue. UIT constructed 2 bulk heads with a series of grout and relief tubes to install grout to properly abandon the utility.
