As cyclospora cases continue to rise in Wake County and across the country, health experts are reminding residents to be mindful of potential food and water exposures. UNC Health infectious disease expert Dr. David Wohl says residents shouldn't be concerned about drinking municipal water, even though the parasite is resistant to chlorine. “There are filters, there are other things that people apply to municipal water, so I’m not worried that much about that or it surviving through all those systems,” Wohl said. "Our fresh water, not only is it safe, but it’s what you should use to wash things off."
