šµ Design is not just about making things look good. It's about making systems work better. This Sunday, I was reminded of that. š“ My son had gone cycling near Savandurga with friends. On the return journey, he became exhausted, fell behind the group, and found himself alone in a remote forested area. He called me for help. š® My mind immediately raced through every possible scenario. I called 112 hoping for quick assistance. The officers were polite, but the call was transferred between stations as they worked out which jurisdiction the location belonged to. Details had to be repeated, and valuable time passed before the right people could be contacted for an hour. š Thankfully, I was able to drive and reach him safely after an hour and half. But the experience left me thinking: What happens when someone is injured? What if there is no phone signal? What if every minute matters? š¾ As a design educator, I often remind my students that design is not limited to products, websites, or logos. Design is also about creating better systems, clearer communication, smoother user journeys, and faster decision-making. š Could design thinking help emergency response systems work more effectively? Could location mapping, jurisdiction routing, and communication flows be redesigned so help reaches people faster? š” Sometimes the most important design challenges are found in everyday experiences. That Sunday reminded me that good design has the power to save not just time, but potentially lives. #DesignThinking #ServiceDesign #DesignEducation #UserExperience #Innovation
