The UK has announced £380 million in funding for Agratas, the battery arm of India’s Tata Group, to support the development of an electric vehicle battery gigafactory in Somerset. The facility is expected to create thousands of skilled jobs, strengthen domestic battery supply chains, and play a vital role in the UK’s transition to zero‑emission transport. Once operational, the gigafactory in Somerset is set to supply EV batteries to Jaguar Land Rover, and other manufacturers in the near future.
