OpenAI and Microsoft have committed £10 million towards the UK’s international coalition to safeguard AI development. With additional backing confirmed during the AI Impact Summit, over £25 million is now available for AI alignment research, benefitting some 60 projects across 8 countries. AI alignment refers to the effort of steering advanced AI systems to reliably act as we intend them to, without unintentional or harmful behaviours.
