Chancellor Rachel Reeves hosted the Great British Pitch India, connecting some of the UK’s most ambitious small businesses directly to buyers in India. Our £48 billion trading relationship is all set to move to the next level with the landmark UK-India Free Trade Agreement - the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement - coming into effect from 15 July. Events like these ensure businesses on both sides are ready to reap the massive benefits of tariff cuts from Day 1. Under the trade deal, the UK and India have agreed mutual commitments on cooperation and information-sharing that SMEs from both countries will benefit from. This includes bespoke support from contact points, easy to access trading information, and an agreement to continue to explore ways to reduce barriers. In addition to pitching opportunities, the event also featured talks, workshops, mentoring and an exclusive reception at Downing Street alongside HM Trade Commissioner for South Asia Harjinder Kang and Indian High Commissioner to the UK Periasamy Kumaran. 📷 Small Business Britain
