2nd Year Medical Student

Last weekend was a reminder of how powerful it is when people come together with a shared purpose. I was involved in organising and delivering the Incision to Innovation national conference with the Women in Surgery Student Association UK (WinSSA). We were incredibly grateful to our speakers, including Dame Averil Mansfield, Professor Felicity Meyer, and Dr Yasmin Nikookam, who shared their experiences, offering invaluable insight and encouragement. The programme was further enriched by hands-on workshops, including a vascular anastomosis session and an excellent workshop delivered by VRiMS, which added a practical and immersive dimension to the day. Being involved behind the scenes gave me a real appreciation for the work that goes into creating inclusive, supportive environments within medicine. I’m proud to have worked alongside such a driven team and to contribute to an event that continues to encourage and empower future surgeons!
