9 years to the day! Leaving Sainsbury's after one last Black Friday has been a trip down memory lane — waving corporate a goodbye! 👋 I joined Argos in 2016 on 28 November, not long after the acquisition, to be part of the then-small London team building its brand new e-commerce platform. We grew 20x since! It's been an incredible launchpad journey... to name a few: Tu clothing on Argos, Argos in Ireland, Habitat on Argos, Sainsbury's Just Walk Out, Nectar Prices on Smartshop & GOL, Search on Sainsbury's, Nectar for Everyone, Ask Trevor, Argos Plus, and this month Hey Sainsbury's! We built a ton of great APIs and 100s of microservices, powering up millions of customer journeys every day — strategic Product APIs, Checkout APIs, Basket APIs, Wallet APIs, Promo Engine APIs, and many more across Content, Order Management, Inventory, Payments, D&T and this year Parcel & Collections domains. We took care of our data, our ML and lately our cool and fun AIs! Engineered many slick and amazing UIs with React and Next.js and supported our native Apps for Argos, Sainsbury's GOL, Smartshop, Chop Chop, and Nectar! I worked with and learnt from so many incredible people — 560 engineering FTEs in my area! And many great leaders among our heads of and directors of engineering. So, so many of whom I owe a huge debt of gratitude for the passion and hard work that went in — driving our tech function forward and made us all look good! Thank you collectively Sainsbury's Digital Engineering! 🙏 Every, one — of you! With a bag full of great memories and a-ha moments, it's the people that I'll miss the most!!
