Last week, our Evaluation and Impact Manager Mahreen Ferdous attended the launch of the UK Standard Skills Classification at the Shard Skills are central to the world of work from the roles people perform and the qualifications they hold to the dynamics of labour markets, the design of training programmes, recruitment practices, and career guidance Yet, the UK has lacked a unified system for classifying skills that works for the diverse needs of employers, job seekers, careers advisors, training providers, and labour market analysts The UK Standard Skills Classification (SSC) looks to change that by introducing a structured, standardised way of defining the skills, knowledge, and tasks required across UK occupations Reflecting on the event, Mahreen shared: "The Standard Skills Classification is a significant foundational step forward toward a common language across the skills ecosystem in the UK. I hope others will explore it using the tool provided, use it, and build further on it in innovative ways." During the launch event, attendees shared some clever suggests on how APIs and AI agents could be used to further build on this work, showing how there could be even more exciting and valuable developments in the future drawing on the power of technology to transform UK skills The development of the SSC is the exact type of systemic change and action actively champion here at Ufi VocTech Trust If you're curious about the UK Standard Skills Classification, it's worth exploring the report: https://lnkd.in/g_4gYNDd #Skills #UKSkills #FutureOfWork #SkillsDevelopment
