A new study from UC San Diego offers early clinical evidence that semaglutide, a widely used GLP-1 receptor agonist, may slow biological aging. In a randomized, placebo-controlled trial, researchers observed a 9% reduction in the pace of biological aging, along with improvements across multiple systems including metabolic, cardiovascular and neurological health. While more research is needed, these findings point to the potential of targeting aging at the molecular level to extend healthspan and prevent age-related disease.
