Wrapping up London Climate Action Week at UCL This week at UCL, we’ve been exploring what climate action looks like across research, teaching, operations, and everyday campus life. From conversations between our Pro-Vice-Provosts for the Grand Challenge of the Climate Crisis and students, to cutting-edge interdisciplinary research, one theme has been consistent: universities are not just responding to the climate crisis, they are actively shaping solutions. Across the week, we’ve highlighted work on: - Climate education and student perspectives on activism, anxiety, and action - Inclusive climate solutions, ensuring disabled communities are part of co-designing resilience strategies - Children’s lived experiences of climate change in urban London - Sustainable food systems and the potential of alternative protein sources such as insects - Practical, data-driven interventions that are already reducing energy use and costs across campus What connects these diverse projects is a shared commitment within the Grand Challenge of the Climate Crisis: turning research into real-world impact, and embedding sustainability into how the university operates day to day. As London Climate Action Week comes to a close, it’s clear that meaningful change doesn’t come from a single solution, it comes from collaboration across disciplines, communities, and lived experiences. 🌱 Small actions matter. But so does the system change that makes them possible. #LondonClimateActionWeek #LCAW2026 #UCL #UCLGrandChallenges #ClimateAction #Sustainability #HigherEducation #NetZero #ResearchImpact
