UCL’s senior delegation was pleased to visit the British Embassy Tokyo, meeting with Julia Longbottom, UK Ambassador to Japan, to reflect on and strengthen UCL’s engagement across the country. During the meeting, we shared updates on UCL’s partnerships with Japanese universities and industry, and expressed our sincere thanks for the Ambassador’s support throughout her tenure, including her advocacy for initiatives such as the MUSUBI Global Master’s Scholarship and broader collaboration with partners in Japan. The discussion also reflected on the strong alignment between the UK and Japan in building trust-based academic partnerships, and the importance of mutual respect and long-term collaboration. We were encouraged to continue developing innovative models of university partnership that deepen connections across research, education and innovation. We will continue to work closely with partners in Japan and the British Embassy to support shared priorities and future collaboration. #UCLandJapan #UCL200 Geraint Rees, Lasana Harris, Neil Curson, Thomas S Miller, Robert Thompson, Will Lovegrove, UCL Innovation and Enterprise, UCL Faculty of Brain Sciences, UCL Engineering, UCL Faculty of Medical Sciences, London Centre for Nanotechnology, Musubi Mentorship Programme
