Many congratulations to Liam Rochford who has been crowned the inaugural winner of the 2025 Pasture Progress Award. The award has replaced the former Sustainable Grassland Farmer of the Year competition. From Cleariestown, Co Wexford, Liam is a graduate of animal and crop production from the UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science and returned home to farm in 2017 where he formed a partnership with his mother Mary and uncle John. At that stage, there were just 55 cows on the farm and, over the years, the Rochfords have gradually built up the herd to where it is today at 152 cows, across a 56ha milking platform and with a total farm area of 160ha. Minister Noel Grealish T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, presented Liam with his award at the Teagasc Crops Research Centre, Oak Park, Co.
