Last night we were delighted to welcome students, parents and friends, staff and guests from across the industry to the annual awards ceremony. 53 students were recognised for their achievements including academic, professional work experience, health and safety, sports and global excellence. With prizes worth €64,000 distributed among the students, we were delighted to welcome many guests from across the agri-food industry who continue to support the students and the awards. We would like to thanks them sincerely for that continued support & generosity. The night concluded with a fabulous speech by guest speaker Christopher Cahill. Christopher was recently named the 2024 FBD Young Farmer of the Year and is a gradaute of the BSc in Animal science and the MSc in Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development. In his speech he told some tales of good times at UCD, reminding students to hold on to the special bonds and friendships that are made in UCD. He had some wonderful advice for the students beginning the next stage of their journey; “Don’t be afraid to take chances! Persevere, work hard. Ag will open doors for you, don’t be afraid to walk through them; use the connections and never be afraid to ask for help.”
