University College Dublin’s Main Lake is a focal point on campus, surrounded by key buildings like UCD James Joyce Library, O’Reilly Hall and the O’Brien Centre for Science. In this video Ciaran Beattie of UCD Estate Services explains why the lake was built in the early 1970s, how deep it is, how students enjoy it - and how ducks, seagulls, swans and fish have made it their home, despite its having a concrete floor not designed for wildlife.
