🌱 Our food system is broken. Here is what we can do about it. Yesterday evening we had the pleasure of hearing from Mick Kelly, founder of GIY, who spoke about food empathy and the practical steps we all can take to make healthier, more sustainable food choices. Mick talked about five key behaviours that can shift how we relate to food: 1) Soil health - understanding the connection between living soil, nutrient-dense food, and our own health 2) Support local - reconnecting to where our food comes from changes how we shop and eat 3) Reduce food pollution - choosing organic where possible and cutting down on single-use plastic packaging 4) Eat more plants - embracing diversity beyond the handful of species most of us rely on 5) Follow the seasons - eating what is naturally available at each time of year for maximum freshness and nutrition. What we all can do is: Progress (not perfection), use our influence, and focus on the behaviour change that feels most achievable right now. A huge thank you to Mick for the very insightful and thought-provoking session. Here's to more carroty carrots!🥕 The Connectsus.ie training programme is fully funded by Taste 4 Success Skillnet Paul Bolger Bridie Corrigan Matthews Anna Ozolina #FoodSystems #FoodSecurity #SustainableFood
