After four years and approximately 1,000 hours of training and service, K-9 Max has officially retired from duty. One of the original dogs in the UCI Police Department first-ever K-9 unit. A Labrador retriever, Max played a vital role in tracking missing patients and enhancing the safety of the greater UCI community. He was a familiar, trusted, and beloved presence at UCI Health and his daily presence will be missed. Max will now enjoy a well-earned retirement alongside his handler, Officer Corey Chavez, and his family. From everyone at UCI Health, we thank Max for his dedication, work, and for being such a good boy. If you'd like to get to know Max more, be sure to check out our Mondays with Max video series.
