An engaging group discussion with the industry focused on addressing one of our most persistent challenges: enhancing the seismic performance of non-structural elements. The conversation explored current industry practices and key challenges associated with non-structural elements/systems, including fire-resistance-rated walls, damage assessment and repair strategies, and considerations for residential housing. One of the most valuable outcomes was the opportunity to strengthen connections between industry and academia while identifying pathways for future collaboration. It was inspiring to see such a diverse group of professionals working together toward safer, more resilient, and more sustainable buildings.
