What stories should Americans tell future generations? In 250 years, Americans will open a Time Capsule filled with artifacts from every state and U.S. territory. California’s seven contributions capture the spirit of the Golden State, ranging from past and present groundbreaking technologies to iconic landscapes. Together, these artifacts offer a picture of California for Americans living in 2276. Among California’s contributions is a qubit chip from UC Berkeley, a key building block of quantum computers that have the potential to solve problems far beyond the capabilities of today’s most powerful supercomputers. The chip represents the cutting edge of scientific discovery, California’s enduring legacy of innovation, and UC Berkeley’s strong association with both.
