❕🇺🇦 The issue of continued assistance and support for Ukraine’s innovation and creative sectors, as well as its national intellectual property system, was considered on July 14, 2026, during the 68th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO. 📑 Under agenda item 18 “Assistance and Support for Ukraine’s Innovation and Creativity Sector and Intellectual Property System” WIPO Director General Daren Tang presented the Report on Assistance and Support for Ukraine’s Innovation and Creativity Sector and Intellectual Property System (document A/68/7), prepared by the WIPO Secretariat pursuant to the decision of Member States adopted on July 15, 2024, during the 65th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies. As noted by the WIPO Director General, the International Bureau will continue to provide assistance and support to Ukraine’s innovation and creative sectors and intellectual property system in close cooperation and consultation with the Ukrainian side. The structure and main findings of the report were presented by Mr Habip Asan, Director of the WIPO Division for Transition and Developed Countries (TDC). As noted by Habip Asan, the findings of the study show the deepening of a number of structural challenges for Ukraine’s innovation and creative ecosystems, particularly in the areas of human capital, infrastructure, research and development capacity, and financing. At the same time, international experts recognize the high resilience of Ukrainian institutions, which continue to perform their functions and have adapted to operating in wartime conditions. During the discussion, Olena Orliuk, Director of UANIPIO, thanked Daren Tang, the Secretariat of the Organization and Member States for their consistent support for Ukraine, which helps preserve and develop the national innovation, creative and intellectual property ecosystems in the conditions of the full-scale war. According to her, the report presented confirms that russian aggression continues to have a large-scale and increasingly systemic impact on Ukraine’s innovation, creative and intellectual property sectors. 💬 «But this is not only about damaged buildings, broken equipment or interrupted services. It is about people. It is about inventors who work under air alerts. Researchers who lose laboratories. Authors and artists who lose studios, archives and homes. Entrepreneurs who rebuild their businesses after missile strikes.
