DISTRICT DIRECTOR The District Director leads the strategy, direction, and implementation of the Member's vision across Northern Jersey, partnering with the legislative and communications teams. This role oversees constituent services, outreach, grants delivery, and stakeholder engagement, and represents the Member at district events and meetings, serving as a liaison to federal, state, and local government. The District Director manages district office operations and the Member's schedule, supervises up to eight staff, serves as the Member's senior staffer in the district, and reports to the Chief of Staff. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Leadership: Leads and supervises the district team; sets expectations and standards; hires, trains, evaluates, and directs staff on projects. Constituent Services, Outreach & Grants: Oversees Outreach, Constituent Services, and Casework teams; guides development of the district outreach plan; ensures constituents receive timely resources; advocates with agencies; oversees roundtables, town halls, and tours. Stakeholder Relations: Represents the Member with stakeholders; serves as lead to the NJ Congressional Delegation and government partners; builds and maintains coalitions and partnerships. Coordination with DC: Ensures district priorities inform legislative and communications strategy; partners on content promoting district efforts; drives annual district goals. Operations & Reporting: Approves district-related materials (talking points, memos, social media); oversees the intern program, scheduling, purchases, and security plans; builds the annual events calendar; prepares mid-year and year-end reports for the Chief of Staff and Member. QUALIFICATIONS Four-plus years of leadership/staff management experience in government, campaigns, non-profit, policy, or community outreach One-plus years in a government office preferred Degree not required but preferred Familiarity with Northern Jersey communities and local government a plus Spanish or Korean proficiency a plus Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills Sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality with sensitive information Thorough knowledge of local, state, and federal agencies Ability to synthesize large amounts of information WORKING CONDITIONS Regular office hours plus some nights and weekends; valid driver's license required; travels throughout the district at least half of working hours; works in moderately noisy, crowded settings; accepts performance-based feedback.
