Zahar – Palm Beach Research Center for Judaism-Based Social Sciences The English version will be followed by the Hebrew one מרכז המחקר המשותף למכללה האקדמית צפת ולשותפות צח"ר פאלם ביץ, מציג את הזוכים במענק המחקר לשנת 2021. השבוע אנו גאים להציג את הזוכים אהרון אריאל לביא וד"ר אריה טפר. כותרת המאמר: שנת השמיטה לאורך הדורות: העבר והפוטנציאל לעתיד של שנת השמיטה, מהחברה החקלאית לעידן המידע אהרן אריאל לביא הוא רב ויזם חברתי המאמין שרשתות הן המפתח לעיצוב המציאות בדור הבא. בתור הוגה דעות, לביא מאמין שניתן לשאוב השראה מהיהדות בכל תחומי החיים, ולהיפך. ללביא תארים אקדמיים בתחומי הכלכלה, הגיאוגרפיה וההיסטוריה והפילוסופיה של המדע, וכן הסמכה לרבנות. הוא כותב כעת את עבודת הדוקטורט שלו על ההיסטוריה והתפקיד של השמרנות היהודית ביחסי ישראל והתפוצות. לביא היה חבר במספר מכוני מחקר העוסקים בתפר שבין יהדות ומדיניות ציבורית, עמית בקרן בתקווה וחבר ברשת ROI וכן פרסם ספר על חשיבה יהודית כלכלית ומאמרים רבים בעברית ובאנגלית. כיום הוא מנהל את מיזם "הקהל" להקמת קהילות משימתיות בתפוצות, אותו ייסד ב-2014, בשיתוף הארגון Hazon ומשרד התפוצות. הוא חי עם אשתו, ליאת, וחמשת ילדיהם במושב שובה שבעוטף עזה ובזמנו הפנוי גם כמדריך רכיבת אופני הרים ומשתתף בתחרויות. ד"ר אריה טפר הנו חוקר במרכז עזריאלי ללימודי ישראל, באוניברסיטת בן-גוריון, ותחומי המחקר שלו הם: יהודי ארצות האסלאם: רשתות ומערכות קשרים בין ישראל לעולם היהודי-ספרדי, במיוחד בהקשר המוזיקלי. יהדות אתיופיה: מעמד המסורת האתיופית בהקשר דתי-תרבותי-חברתי. ג'אז וג'אז ישראלי. מוזיקה כשפה מיסטית. Winning Article Title: The Sabbatical Year Through the Ages The winners: Aharon Ariel Lavi is a Rabbi and a serial social entrepreneur who believes networks are key to shaping our reality. As a philosopher, Lavi believes Judaism can inspire and inform all walks of life, and vice versa. Lavi holds academic degrees in Economics, Geography, History and Philosophy of Science, as well as Rabbinic ordination. He is currently writing his PhD on the history and role that Jewish progressivism played in the relationship between Israel and the diaspora. He was a fellow in several research institutions, a Tikvah Fund fellow and an ROI member and published a book on Jewish economic thought as well as dozens of articles. Today, Lavi is the Director of Hakhel - The Jewish Intentional Communities Incubator at Hazon, which he founded in 2014. He lives with his wife, Liat, and their five children in Shuva, and in his spare time, he is also a professional mountain biking racer and trainer.
