šŸ‘‰ šŸ‘‰ šŸ‘‰ Medical decision analysis is a method for making rational clinical decisions under conditions of uncertainty, enabling a mathematical combination of probabilities and utilities. Commonly used in health economics, medical decision analysis is underexploited in clinical practice: in order to promote its use at the bedside of cancer patients, this article provides basic models for some typical clinical decisions in cancer treatment, particularly those concerning: the quantity/quality of life trade-offs in curable cancer; adjuvant/neoadjuvant treatments; cytoreductive treatments; active surveillance / watchful waiting choices; treatment of advanced cancer; cancer follow-up.Ā  Contrary to clinical research, medical decision analysis does not build new evidence, but it provides physicians with a method to personalize clinical decisions on the basis of available evidence and has great potential value in medical education. šŸ”“ https://lnkd.in/dvb_xHSw Paolo Giovanni Casali, @Lisa Licitra, Salvatore Provenzano, @Ilaria Pellegrini, @Chiara Fabbroni, Andrea Franza, @Claudia Giani, @Dario Callegaro, Stefano Cavalieri, Francesco Lanza, Anna Maria Frezza, Vincenzo INT Vincenzo Bruno, @Renato Muzzini, Trama Annalisa, Rosalba Miceli, Gabriele Tine', Valter Torri, Virginia Sanchini, Hykel Hosni, @Paolo Bruzzi #uncertainty #cancer #treatment
