As we are coming upon the 250th year of America, we reflect on Juneteenth and the importance of its impact on the nation's history. See how Student Ambassadors, Madi Jones and Monica Nyang'oro, visited the New Orleans African American Museum and explored the Black History of New Orleans and how it ties into the acknowledgment of the complicated history between the city of New Orleans and Juneteenth. This holiday represents the historical weight of freedom, which intersects with the vibrant reality of Black culture. Madi Jones eloquently described what Juneteenth means to her as "a beautiful amalgamation of honoring being Black in America." As you celebrate Juneteenth, we ask: "What does Juneteenth mean to you?" Happy Juneteenth!
