✈️ What if drones could achieve continues flight? That's the challenge Aero Team Eindhoven is tackling through its ambitious in-air battery swap system, and this year's team reached an important milestone on that journey. During their year-end event, the team successfully demonstrated the docking of a drone carrying a replacement battery with their battery swap platform. While the demonstration used a static setup, it marks a major step toward the team's long-term vision: in-flight autonomous drone-to-drone battery swapping. 🔋 This year's goal: successful docking. 🚁 Next year's challenge: drone-to-drone docking and battery swapping. By enabling drones to exchange batteries mid-air, Team AERO aims to redefine flying by extending flight times, reducing downtime, and contributing to a more sustainable future for aviation. What makes this achievement particularly unique is that it was built across multiple generations of students. Each year, a new team builds on the work of its predecessors, taking another step toward making continuous drone flight a reality. Congratulations to Team AERO Eindhoven on a successful year and an exciting demonstration of what's possible when ambitious ideas meet hands-on innovation. 🚀 Team AERO Eindhoven is part of the Eindhoven University of Technology Student Team Program – an ecosystem within TU/e innovation Space where interdisciplinary teams tackle real-world challenges through #ChallengeBasedLearning and #Entrepreneurship. These teams play a critical role in shaping the future of innovation while developing the skills needed to become the next generation of talent for the Brainport Eindhoven region.
