Global sustainability challenges require strong scientific partnerships — and places where research translates into international impact 🤝   The visit of Prof. Tshilidzi Marwala, Rector of the United Nations University and Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, to TUD Dresden University of Technology on the occasion of the Farewell Lecture of Prof. Edeltraud (Edel) Guenther, Director of United Nations University-FLORES, underlines Dresden’s international significance as a hub for sustainability-oriented cutting-edge research and science-based solutions to global challenges.   This ambition became particularly visible at the CARE | Cluster of Excellence. Linking research on climate-neutral building materials, resource-efficient construction and circular technologies with the Nexus approach of UNU-FLORES opens new perspectives on a key question for the future: How can sustainable construction be rethought in the context of resources, climate and societal transformation?   The joint UNU Hub Climate Resilience and Sustainable Technologies (CREST) also stands for this shared ambition. As a bridge between TUD and UNU-FLORES, it strengthens research, teaching and knowledge transfer on climate-resilient and sustainable technologies.   Dresden thus demonstrates that global sustainability challenges are not only discussed here, but translated into research, partnerships and solid perspectives for the future.
