💡 D365 CE Tip: Your Dynamics 365 system is only as good as its data model It's easy to think of Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement as a set of forms, workflows and integrations. In reality, everything sits on top of one thing: your data model. That's what shapes how the system behaves: it defines how information is captured; how it connects; and how useful it becomes over time. Before building anything, it's worth slowing down and asking a few simple questions: - Do we actually need this table or are we duplicating something that already exists? - Who is responsible for maintaining this data once the system is live? - What decisions will this data support in practice? These are mainly business questions, and they're often the difference between a system that works in theory and one that delivers value day to day. It's tempting to move quickly into configuration...forms get built, fields are added and processes start to take shape. But without a clear and intentional data structure underneath, those decisions create friction later on. Reporting becomes harder because the data is inconsistent. Automation becomes unreliable because the logic is unclear. Users lose confidence because the system does not reflect how they actually work. Taking the time to design the data model properly changes that. It creates a foundation that supports everything else, from reporting and automation through to long term adoption. It's not the most visible part of a Dynamics project, but it's the part that determines whether the system will scale or slowly become harder to manage. Simple, well structured data will always outperform something more complex that tries to cover every scenario upfront. We believe that it's much easier to build on a solid foundation than to fix one later. #Dynamics365
