Yesterday, we hosted an AI Builder Summit for True founders and leaders. We've been backing founders since 2005. One of our strongest beliefs — one that's compounded over twenty years — is that the smartest people in a room will find the answer faster than anyone will alone. What the room discussed: The "product engineer" is the most valuable mindset. Own the customer problem, design a solution fast, iterate quickly, ship and fix as you go. When speed is one of the most important moats, this is the person you build around. Stop coordinating. Start duplicating. It's faster to replicate effort across isolated swim lanes than to triangulate five visions of the world. Have two teams build the same thing. Pick the best version and ship in 48 hours. . "Human in the loop" is holding teams back. The future is "humans on the loop" — structured checkpoints, not constant oversight. If you're exhausted, that's the signal you need to rebuild. Buy-vs-build calculus has permanently flipped. When you can build a tool internally in days, software has to earn its place. New procurement filter: if it doesn't have a fully capable API — headless, programmable, no UI required — it's off the list. Most tech moats are gone. CRUD apps that wrap a database? Game over. Tokens are the final digital good. Own the weights and you have pricing leverage. Prompt someone else's model and your moat is thin. Mindset is the bottleneck. One person is outperforming an entire marketing team by orchestrating an army of agents. Meanwhile, one person refusing to work this way can hold the whole team back. The gap between those two realities is where most teams are stuck right now. Our in-person summits are more valuable than ever. We'll keep bringing our founders together, and we're thinking about opening these sessions up beyond our portfolio soon. Stay tuned. The answer's always in the room.
