Hardware-Instrumented Tracing is a highly accurate, non-intrusive methodology. Real-time capable it's particularly useful for embedded and safety-critical systems. As part of the TRISTAN project, Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems IPMS spearheaded TRACE-FS: an open, multi-core #RISCV tracing ecosystem designed with functional safety in mind. Why this matters: 🥾 Moves beyond intrusive step debugging to enable non-intrusive tracing 🦾 Supports multiple RISC-V cores (CVA6, EMSA5, TGC) on a unified platform 🤖 Enables timing & worst-case execution analysis (WCET) for safety-critical systems 💻 Integrates with real tools like AbsInt GmbH TimeWeaver and Tensor ElfAlyzer Beyond TRISTAN, Fraunhofer IPMS' EMSA5 core already has a working toolchain for tracing with functional safety capabilities, meanwhile the C-Trace IP is open source, setting the stage for further ecosystem growth. #RISCV #FunctionalSafety #EmbeddedSystems #OpenHardware #Semiconductors #EdgeComputing
