Deep in the North of Scotland lies the jewel in the crown of the highlands, Dunrobin Castle. Resembling a French château and with 189 rooms, the castle is one of Britain's oldest inhabited houses and can trace its roots back to the early 1300s. Aside from a being a stunning eye-catcher within the highlands, Dunrobin Castle has an incredibly interesting history such as when it was used as a naval hospital during the First World War and, at times, a controversial history - including in 1785, when Elizabeth Gordon, Countess of Sutherland headed the Highland Clearances to remove crofters from the surrounding land. Dunrobin Castle overlooks the Moray Firth, just north of the villages of Golspie and Dornoch and is open annually from 1st April to 31st October. https://qoo.ly/383ped
