The plastic problem is getting worse. And the latest data makes that very clear. Global plastic production is now above 400 million tonnes per year, yet less than 10% of plastic is actually recycled and reused. The production and incineration of this plastic generate roughly 1.2 billion tonnes of CO₂-equivalents each year. Large volumes of plastic waste are still mismanaged. As of 2025, around 130 million tonnes of plastic leak into natural ecosystems every year, contaminating soils, rivers and oceans. Without structural changes, that number could more than double by 2040. At the same time, plastic production continues to grow faster than waste management capacity. The system simply cannot keep up. Recycling alone will not solve this problem. The materials themselves need to change. And this is exactly where biocomposites can make a real difference. By integrating natural fibers into polymer systems, biocomposites reduce fossil content, significantly lower CO₂ emissions and improve material efficiency while remaining compatible with existing manufacturing processes. As a drop-in solution, they can be implemented without changing equipment or redesigning production lines, enabling immediate and scalable adoption across industries. At Trifilon, our focus is simple: redesign plastics to perform better for both industry and the planet. https://trifilon.com/ #Trifilon #sustainability #biocomposite #biocomposites #greenmaterials #sustainablematerials
