TII was delighted to be at the National Construction Summit this morning, where Cathal Masterson, Director of Commercial Operations, spoke on the future of light rail in Ireland. Cathal outlined the significant work being done to strengthen TII’s capability and capacity, with a focus on: · safeguarding the existing light rail network as it ages, through asset and life‑cycle investment; and · delivering on the evolving plans to expand the network, both across Dublin and into Cork. The presentation also set out TII’s approach to building long-term organisational strength across the three core light rail functions: Build, Maintain and Operate. As part of this, Cathal provided an overview of the estimated investment required for a comprehensive asset life-cycle investment programme for the existing network, highlighting the need for approximately €1.8bn over a 20‑year period to support asset renewal for infrastructure and rolling stock.
