🚛💸 NEW: Europe’s truckmakers are choosing short-term payouts over their own long-term survival. In 2025, for the first time since CO2 targets were set, average shareholder rewards (4.9% of revenue) officially outpaced R&D spending (4.4%). While new competition from China prepares to enter the European market in 2026, European industry leaders are hitting the brakes. The excuse? They claim the market is too slow, and are lobbying to water down EU regulations. But the data tells a different story. The money is there, it’s just not being invested in the truck market of the future. By prioritising short-term benefits over the zero-emission transition, European OEMs are handing the keys of the future truck market to their global competitors. We don't need a regulatory rollback.
