Utilising Transmax’s STREAMS software, Mackay Regional Council has delivered a smart safety upgrade to a key intersection on the Bruce Highway, improving how oversized vehicles move through one of the region’s busiest freight corridors. In partnership with Transmax Pty Ltd and the Department of Transport and Main Roads, council replaced a high-risk manual process with a secure, remotely activated traffic signal solution. Crews can now safely stop highway traffic and lower signal poles for oversized vehicles to pass through. Since launching, the solution has supported more than 200 operations, delivering safer outcomes for workers, freight operators and motorists.
