Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) are widely used frameworks for evaluating the environmental impacts of a product, service or process. While often regarded as the gold standard, their application among early- and growth-stage enterprises often reveals practical challenges that are rarely discussed. In our new report, developed with Integrative Solutions Ltd, we gather insights from nine waste enterprises to reflect on the value and functionality of LCAs in practice. The implications are clear: methodological rigour alone isn't enough, deployment design, timing and interpretation determine the success of LCAs.
