On April 28, Canada observes the National Day of Mourning, a time to remember those who have been injured, fallen ill or lost their lives in the workplace. Similar days of remembrance are observed in many parts of the world, including the United States and Australia, aligning with a shared responsibility across our global operations to ensure every worker gets home safely. At TransAlta, we have a saying: safe production is the only production. We are committed to learning every day from our work and strengthening the systems that help keep people safe. Today, we join the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety in pausing to reflect on the human impact behind every safety statistic.
