Today is World Malaria Day, a moment to reflect on the progress made, and the urgent work still needed to end one of the world’s deadliest diseases. In 2024, malaria caused an estimated 610,000 deaths globally, a slight increase on 2023. At a time when global health funding is under pressure, partnerships and community-led solutions are more important than ever to end malaria. Through our access to healthcare programmes, we’re helping ensure children in remote communities can access life-saving treatment quickly, from community health volunteers recognising the signs of severe malaria and using innovative pre-referral rectal artesunate, to emergency transport systems like bicycle ambulances getting children to further care. But progress is fragile, and without sustained support, lives remain at risk. Watch our video to learn more about these community-led systems, and read stories from health professionals, volunteers, and families here: https://bit.ly/42dYwId #WorldMalariaDay #EndMalaria #Partnerships #accesstohealthcare
