Trafigura is pleased to share a significant milestone for the Brújula Verde carbon removals project in Colombia, which has issued over 230,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent of carbon removals on the Gold Standard registry — its first verified issuance since the project was established in 2022. Developed by InverBosques and supported by Trafigura, Natixis and GenZero, Brújula Verde operates on degraded lands in Vichada, Colombia, delivering carbon removals alongside meaningful social and economic development for local communities. In November 2025, the project was awarded an 'AA.Pre' carbon rating by BeZero Carbon — placing it among the top 4 percent of rated afforestation, reforestation and revegetation projects globally. That recognition reflects rigorous Forest Stewardship Council certification, adherence to IFC - International Finance Corporation Performance Standards, and a robust digital system that monitors soil health, biodiversity and ecosystem services recovery at the landscape level. The project has planted over 15,000 hectares to date, with Trafigura and GenZero together supporting expansion to up to 20,000 hectares - an area larger than San Francisco. Matthew Nelson, Head of Carbon Investments at Trafigura, commented: "Reaching this first issuance milestone reflects the technical rigour and sustained commitment of all those who have contributed to this project over the past four years. We are pleased to be supporting a project of this quality and look forward to presenting it to customers." 👉 Visit Brújula Verde's website to find out more: https://brujula-verde.com/ InverBosques - Gerencia de Proyectos Forestales Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking GenZero NatureMetrics Arkadiah Technology #CarbonMarkets #NatureBasedSolutions #CarbonRemovals #Colombia
