Importing into Europe? Here's an important ICS2 ENS compliance update. As of 1 June 2026, the transition to ISC2 Release 3 is now complete, meaning ICS2 ENS is now fully mandatory across all EU Member States, as well as Northern Ireland, Norway, and Switzerland, for Air and Ocean (Road & Rail, when applicable). The ruling is effective with no exceptions in terms of coverage. Until recently, Croatia, Latvia, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia were still allowed to use ICS1 for certain road and rail shipments under a temporary derogation. The transition period is officially over. Every shipment entering the European Union, as well as Northern Ireland, Norway, and Switzerland, must now be filed under the ICS2 ENS framework. ICS2 ENS allows Customs authorities to receive shipment data before goods arrive, helping them perform security and risk assessments in advance. For businesses, this means one thing: Full compliance is no longer optional. Companies that are not fully aligned with ICS2 requirements may face: --Shipment delays --Customs inspections --Goods being held at the border --Increased operational costs Importing into Europe by air, ocean, road or rail ?
