Today, we celebrate International Day of People with Disability. With 1.3 billion people globally living with disability, and accessible travel in Australia valued at $29.2 billion in 2024 (TRA), unlocking the potential of this sector is an important part of our industry’s future. This year’s theme 'Fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress' aligns with our commitment to improving accessibility and inclusion, ensuring Australia remains a welcoming destination for all travellers. Over the past year, we achieved several important milestones in embedding accessibility across our work, including: Expanding our Asset Hub with more than 800 accessible and inclusive assets, supporting our commitment to the Shift 20 Initiative and enabling global teams and partners to authentically represent travellers with disability and accessible experiences in their marketing. Reaching more than 1,400 completions of the Accessible Australia module, now the second most-completed additional course in the Aussie Specialist Program. Implementing the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower - Australia & New Zealand Program at #ATE25 and across our offices, with more than 50 staff trained globally. Launching our first Disability and Inclusion Action Plan, co-designed with Get Skilled Access (GSA), providing a clear framework for inclusive marketing, industry engagement, and organisational practice. They catch each other’s eye and have a warm exchange in AUSLAN, as the music drops to a slow, steady bass beat. “That feeling!”. “Best gig ever”. The final frame reveals Tourism Australia’s Come and say G’day logo, where Ruby the souvenir kangaroo appears wearing a Hidden Disabilities Sunflower support pin and invites audience to 'Come and say G’day.'
