In a recent interview with American Journal of Transportation, Klaveness Digital Managing Director Ingrid Kylstad argues that rather than trying to build โ€œone platform to rule them all,โ€ companies should think in terms of building a technology ecosystem. Kylstad points out that technology is evolving rapidly, with the rise of AI and low-code development enabling users to create solutions tailored to their own operations. The role of software providers is shifting from owning entire workflows, to enabling customers to build on top of what is provided and extract value in ways that fit their specific needs. This reflects a broader reality in maritime supply chains: โžก๏ธ A ship owner optimizes for dollars per day. โžก๏ธ A cargo owner optimizes for dollars per ton. As Kylstad notes: "These are different economic logics and it's difficult to have one single platform to own these different complexities without becoming rigid or extractive." Performance will increasingly depend on trading efficiencyโ€”how well systems, actors, and data sources work together, and the effectiveness of decision-making across the ecosystem. ๐Ÿ”— Read the full interview here: https://lnkd.in/eaKZf_4S #Interview #Shipping #TradingEfficiency #KlavenessDigital
