Most NetSuite implementations fail because companies don't know what they already have. They buy NetSuite thinking they need customization. They don't. They need to understand what the software can actually do. Here's what we see 90% of the time: Companies jump straight to configuration without mapping their current processes. But the real issue isn't that NetSuite is missing something — it's that they don't know NetSuite already does it. NetSuite has deep native functionality for e-commerce. Order management, fulfillment, returns, multi-channel selling, inventory control, financial reporting. Most of it works out of the box. The problem is companies don't discover it until they're already three months into a failed implementation. So the right approach: - Map your current process (all the messy parts) - Identify what's broken - Check what NetSuite can do natively first - Configure it to match your flow - Only then consider if you need something custom This takes longer upfront. But you end up with a stable system that scales, not an expensive custom solution that breaks every Oracle update. We've seen companies waste $200k on customizations NetSuite already does out of the box. The lesson: know what you have before you build what you don't.
