Pleased to share our newly published article in Techniques in Coloproctology (TCOL) on predictors of ileal pouch-anal anastomosis failure in ulcerative colitis. In a large tertiary referral cohort of 851 patients, pouch failure was uncommon, but when it occurred it was usually a late event driven by fistulae, chronic leaks, or refractory pouch inflammation. To support clinical decision-making, we also developed a practical nomogram to help estimate individualized risk at the time of surgical planning.
