This week I take a step out into the great unknown: retirement. After working 19 years at FamilySearch, it's time to hang it up and move on. It's been a great ride! I've learned so much both in terms of technology and in terms of how to lead teams. Most of all it's been a great experience working with wonderful people in an area that really matters. We've been trying hard to provide services that help people get in touch with their ancestors and thereby get in touch with themselves. I'm not entirely sure what I'll be doing next, but I know I won't want to stay around home puttering in the back yard for long. It's bitter-sweet leaving FamilySearch. But I can tell it's time. There are so many great leaders and engineers that I have no worries about them moving forward without me. As agent D said in Men in Black: "I will miss the chase."
