I had the pleasure of attending The Non-Law Into Law Conference 2025 at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) where I had the opportunity to connect with professionals and explore the ways into law coming from a non-law degree. One of the most valuable insights came from Gemma Baker, Senior Graduate Recruitment Manager at Willkie. She shared what Willkie look for during their vacation scheme and training contract application processes. Most importantly to avoid being generic in my application and find a way to stand out whether that be law or non-law related. This was alongside an IP workshop presented by a panel from Mathys & Squire LLP. I was able to gain valuable information into the routes toward IP careers (especially Trade Mark Attorney) from partners James Pitchford and Anna Gregson and trainees Louis Brosnan and Tanya R.. A key highlight in Kenneth Damien’s negotiation workshop, was how to present yourself when engaging with clients and customers. This interactive workshop made me aware of the practical skills needed in legal negotiation and how to master these skills. This experience has further solidified my ambition to pursue law as a career, coming from a non-law degree. I sincerely thank Louis F. and the University of Nottingham Law Society for making this opportunity available to non-law students at UoN and I look forward to attending more! #NLILConference
