Christian Böttger Nurullah Demir) are excited to share that our experience paper, "This Paper is Quite Unusual: Metascience and Structural Misalignment in the Security & Privacy Research Community," is now available online: https://lnkd.in/eqbaRyUr In this paper, we explore why metascience -- the study of how research is conducted, evaluated, and incentivized -- remains underrepresented in the Security & Privacy community. We review the current state of metascience in the field, reflect on our experiences submitting metascientific work to leading S&P venues, and discuss the structural barriers that limit its acceptance. Finally, we outline how stronger self-reflection and evidence-based evaluation could help strengthen the research community.
