Today, we honour all those who have served and sacrificed in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations — their courage and legacy continue to inspire generations. Veterans such as: New Zealand-born artist, Frank Norton, who was appointed official war artist with the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) and the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) during World War II, and later in the Korean War, and National servicemen of the Royal Australian Army Educational Corps (RAAEC), known as ‘Chalkies’, who were posted to Papua New Guinea (PNG) in 1971 as part of an effort to raise the educational levels of the PNG Army. Sharing their stories honours the ANZAC spirit Lest we forget. Image credit: Australian War Memorial Collection
