“Fascination with Practice” at TITK   Four pupils from the Friedrich-Adolf-Richter School in #Rudolstadt visited the TITK Group yesterday as part of the “Fascination with Practice” experience day. 😊   After a brief round of introductions, the ninth-graders dove right into the world of #polymers: What exactly are #plastics? Where do we encounter them in everyday life? And how long have we been using them? It quickly became clear: Whether in #textiles, smartphones, or shoes - polymers are a part of our lives almost everywhere.   Our research associate Dr. Michael Gladitz presented a selection of current innovations from TITK and described the TITK Group’s broad portfolio: 🔬 non-profit, industry-oriented research at TITK 🧪 testing services for plastics and textiles at OMPG mbH 🏭 production of innovative polymer materials at smartpolymer GmbH   The highlight of the day was definitely the tour of our labs and technical facilities, including, for example: ✨ Experiencing 3D printing live - including making your own Kickelhahn Tower from the 3D printer, which you could then finish and sandblast yourself (special thanks to Marius Schach) ✨ Manufacturing and laser marking of a catheter (special thanks to Holger Gunkel) ✨ Personalized laser engraving on a pen to take home   To wrap things up, we enjoyed pizza together while learning more about training and career opportunities within the TITK Group.
