🚀 We’re shaping the future!   On Thursday, we’ll be at the 2026 SME Innovation Day hosted by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie) in #Berlin. Under the theme “Innovative. Strong. SMEs.” around 300 exhibitors will showcase cutting-edge technologies developed with support from the BMWE’s innovation funding programs.   We are particularly pleased to present two research projects this year.   📍 Booth A3 – Sustainable Environmental Protection   Our research associate Yvonne Ewert, together with project partners Kunststofftechnik Weißbach GmbH, GMBU e.V., and Thorey Gera Textilveredelung GmbH, will present a reusable nonwoven composite for oil absorption on water bodies as well as a mobile cleaning system. The developed solution combines effective oil binding with the ability to be reused multiple times, thereby contributing to a more sustainable approach to managing water pollution incidents. The presentation will cover how the material works and its potential applications in environmental protection and disaster response.   📍 Booth D105 – Smart Textiles & Sensor Systems   Our research associate Marcel Ehrhardt will present the #PiPod – a piezoelectric fiber sensor. He will demonstrate a functional textile that, thanks to its sensor technology, enables the precise localization of impact points. This allows safety systems, such as airbags, to be activated even faster and more precisely. In smart textiles, integration into the fabric can support real-time recording of pressure distributions and movements - from monitoring athletic activities to interactive clothing systems in rehabilitation.   Want to check out our innovations? – Innovation Day takes place on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Tschaikowskistraße 49 in Berlin-Pankow.
