In an age of disruption, building high-performance teams is more critical than ever. Yet a recent study mentioned in a Forbes article found that only 30% of teams exceeded their goals and were deemed "high-performing." A lot of the conversation around team building focuses on team bonding and motivation. While critical, they are, in my opinion not the most fundamental factors that go into making a high performing team.  I have been fortunate enough to be a part of developing high performing teams in different situations throughout my career. Discovering & mastering the art of developing high performing teams has also been a personal passion and a continuing journey. I have learnt that leadership plays an important role and so does the quality of talent in the team. While these sound obvious, they are often not given enough importance, and form the basic building blocks of any high performing team. Then comes factors that while talked about a lot, are very difficult to establish on ground for a particular team, and in a specific situation. These include: establishing the common & aspiration purpose of the team, setting a high bar on the expected outcome, process & behaviors from the team members, developing trusting relationships, and an easy working environment with colleagues. And there are many more and I can go on. But that's for another day. This article in Forbes talks about similar things and provides a framework and roadmap for going about building high performing teams. They talk about addressing underlying mindsets, behaviours, and relational dynamics through clarity of goals, linking relationships, integrated ways of working, collaborative decision-making, and knowledge sharing. The roadmap they propose involves setting clear goals, engaging people in the process, and starting with small but impactful changes. While all of us need to personalise the way we go about developing our high performing teams; trying, reading and talking about different approaches really help. Consider this collaborative, inclusive approach, and watch your teams’ performances soar! https://lnkd.in/gXUjRQ6K #HighPerformanceTeams #Leadership #WorkplaceCulture #FutureOfWork
